how does it work? how can i use it? answer asap pls.
1) You are the webmaster for a website about basketball. Using the tool “WHOIS,� locate the email address of the administrative contact for 10 websites about basketball.
Please post the website address, and the administrative contact below.
If you do not know how to use “WHOIS,� you should research this online.
2) Compose an email to invite the webmasters whom you've identified in part 1 (above) to do a link trade with your basketball website. The email should be between 1 and 3 paragraphs in length.
Why nmap and such tools are created? I do not see a good point, because all it does is fetch the system information of the target machine. Webmasters usually know about their server and what services are running, etc. So they do not really need a program that fetch these information for them! Sounds redundant.
Any idea?
I would agree if you said such tools are there to spy on others people's servers...

Pity Microsoft has been left out of the game because Microsoft is too slow and lazy in the Internet game...

http://www.raz-sports.com/. My article section ranks well with all the search engines. Same goes for some of my directory pages. That being said, before I start a huge site promotion, I'd like to receive more feedback.
Before I start, I am have re-designed the site. However, during the time I been working on other prospects, including some scripting.
Now onto the website :)
What I would like to add is add the following features:
1. Score Board---> would include scores to MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL and so on.
2. Polls -------> Asking different questions regarding sports such as your favorite baseball card.
3. Athlete of the week---> would like to have an athlete of the week for each sport.
4. Tools section----> Will consist of future sports tools for webmasters.
My question is how should I break this site down?
Should I keep the navigation as is but add to it?
Example: Sports Articles/ Sports Directory/ Sports Forums/ Scores/Polls/Tools.
Or should I break the site into sports?
Example: create a baseball page that would list
sports news and facts. On this page would be links named as the following?
1. Baseball Directory--> links to baseball related websites.
2. Baseball Articles
3. Baseball Scores
4. Baseball Tools
and etc? Or would that be like spam?
Currently I don't believe my site spams. Do you agree? Any suggestions?

I have just build and uploaded my first website and I am trying to get traffic to come there. I am a start up company, starting out on the web. I brought a Lynda.com training video on search engine optimization, It is a fine video but it seems to be old it was produced it seems from what the instructor talks about and websites he goes to, I would say it was produced in 2005, maybe early 2006. I have tried to find tutorials and free tools on line but the amount of information on SEO and SEM is overwhelming. Which are the good sites and tools,, I have gotten very good advise from you guys While I was building my site. Now, I am asking if anyone knows of good SEO and SEM sites that could teach me how to optimizate my site for better ranking on the search engines. Also, If you guys know about good free tools or trialware for seo that I could try and test for myself.? An example how the video was fuzzy is that he spoke of landing pages, but didn't really go into detail?
I have a website with couple of thousands pages - i dont sell anything. all is content. i also have google sitemaps (xml, rss, html and txt). i have a rss feed as well. in my webmasters tool acount my sitemap says Google had indexed 1160 pages out of 1700 but when i do "site:www.myweb.com" in Google i see only 260 results. Why is that?

Many websites in their infinite wisdom continue to log me off "for my protection". Great for them, sucks for me. I want to find a "ping" like tool or other means to keep me logged in until I choose to log off. I am thinking of websites like credit card companies, investment companies, utilities, etc.
Of course, it would be great for these webmasters to just allow users to increase the timeout as a option but that would be too easy. Instead I need to suffer.
And don't you dare tell me about security -- this has nothing to do about security. I will be at home, in the suburbs, on a non-public PC that I have complete control of. If I stayed logged on for weeks, it would STILL be impossible for anyone to breach my account because of that.
Also, if you are hindered by this, please tell the companies often. Maybe, if enough people complain, these web sites will improved so that we don't need to be devious.
Please some one help... I was editing a site for a buddy of mine and I made a minor change on a wysiwyg editor through her web host and her side tool bar show red x's where her link images use to be. I didnt touch the tool bar at all just some minor content changes...someone please help!
I know this is probably too good to be true, but I am having such a hard time finding a good few keywords for my site. I never imagined it to be this rough. I assume their is some kind of tool that will scan your page and pick keywords..Atleast I hope there is. You guys let me know if I am in luck!
