When swapping Virgin Mobile phones, do you still receive starter airtime?

I currently have that Virgin Mobile Slice, but plan on buying a newer version of it. When I switch phone numbers to the new one, will I still recieve starter airtime on the new phone, or because I'm just switching phones, I won't?
